First Few Days

Hello everyone! This is officially my first post on my blog. Hooray! Well I am here in Hirakata, Japan; slightly NE of Osaka. It has been an adventurous first few days. I arrived on Saturday the 29th at Kansai Gaidai University. The dorms are really nice, and I share a room with a guy from Astonia via England, he is cool too. The Japanese students that live with us in the dorms are fun to talk to, although it is tough not speaking anything but desperate Japanese. Everyone I ever talk to assumes that I speak Japanese, so I will have to learn quickly.

My second day here, Grant and I went to see some of his family in Hiroshima. They don't speak much English so it was tough at first, but lots of pointing and hand motioning later it was fine. Hiroshima was a great place, very beautiful. From there we continued on to Miyajima, an island like place that is also very nice. I will be posting some pictures eventually. To get there we had to take the subways, and the bullet train. It is pretty easy to get around, the trains are in English, and everything went smoothly. Walking or bicycle is the method for local travel though. i think I have already lost a few pounds because 1) walk everywhere! 2) sweat more than a sauna 3) sweat 4) too hot to eat during the day 5) walk Everywhere! But other than that it is all great.

So far all has been great. Thanks for reading, and hopefully some pictures will be up soon.
